Summit 2003 Invitation

Join a widening alliance of universities, educational agencies, and corporate supporters for the inaugural gatherings of the Intercultural Education Alliance (IEA)

.

The purpose of the events is to promote collaborations and networking between institutions and educational organizations in a more global educational landscape. To find more information about this exciting opportunity please visit the IEA’s website at www.aweduserve.org/iea .  We also hope that you will reach out to other educational groups and intercultural/international organizations that you have contact with to promote this event and help foster the opportunities that can come from this effort.  Substantial effort is already underway with many educational technology and international education agencies to make this a special gathering.  We have invited many International Education Week programs to join this special global gathering online.  Come share the experience of a world connected in virtual worlds!

The Keynote address for Summit 2003 will be made by James Burke, noted Science Historian, Author, TV Host and Producer. The culmination of the conference will be a ‘live’ hookup to the Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research (SIETAR) conference being held in Austin, Texas in conjunction with the IEA Summit.  The Summit will consist of two dates (November 21, 2003 & December 12, 2003 – 3:30-6:30 pm EST). We are looking for a Keynote person for the second meeting.

This will be an online (virtual) summit.  An awe-inspiring space is being constructed in Active Worlds, a 3-D interactive environment that will serve as a focal technology tool for many events and collaborations between IEA members (See images of this unique online environment throughout the IEA website).  This technology is also a wonderful tool for connecting students online in a environment that abounds with opportunity for communicating visually and verbally, truly the next step in helping shape a global community.
